Hi, I'm Ann K.
I'm the stepmother to two grown children, and I work as an editor in Manhattan, and I'm married to Steve K, who has his own bio here. I come to powerlifting late, , but I've been athletic and fit all my life. I was a back-up dancer for the Philadelphia Ballet at age 19 until I blew out a knee and that ended those dreams, so I turned to journalism. I have practiced (and taught) yoga for decades, and have been doing a twice-weekly one-on-one Pilates class for the past couple of years. I did join a gym for a year or two about 10 years ago, but I used mainly weight machines, which bored me and I never pursued it after that. I was also a recreational runner for 11 years, until the old knee started acting up. I quit that about 7 years ago. All of that made me, and kept me, pretty flexible and trim--- and apparently stronger than most women my size. I got intrigued with lifting again after I saw Steve do so well with it after starting late (age 56). It really turned around his life and his body. And just about the time I thought about lifting again, he discovered powerlifting---- and WDB.

I started very tentatively in December, but my initial 1RM's were encouraging, and Steve's spotter and coach, a seasoned powerlifter named Richie, coaxed me into trying out a few routines.
So here I am, one month later, posting my workouts as if I know what I'm doing. :-)

This seems a lovely bunch of people that Gabrielle and Clint have attracted, and I like the mix. I also like the helpful feedback I get when I post my rookie workouts. Community is hard to find in this crazy world; and this appears to be a valuable one.

Who knows---if ya'll keep nagging me, maybe I'll do a meet later this year.
Wish me luck!
