Bob Beamer competed in the USAPL Oxman Classic meet in Denver Colorado
I had a good time, easily made weight, lifted OK
and made some new lifting friends. This was my first powerlifting meet, three
lifts, in over 18 years and was I ever nervous about my first squat. We drove
to Denver Saturday for the early weigh in through snow showers, springtime in
the Rockies. My weight was slightly less than 160 pounds and I am 58 years
old.
For years I have said looks or facial expressions don't count while
lifting.
After seeing my pictures, I think the head ref. would be justified to give me
a read light just on looks alone.
It was a small meet, about 40 lifters evenly divided between open
and master
lifters. I managed to get the best lifter light master award too.
Both pictures are third attempts. I didn't get a bench picture because they did not turn out very good.
Squat is 380 pounds
deadlift is 435 pounds
