Age: 53 (born 10/15/1948 a long, long, time ago.)
Height: 5' 6"
Weight: 225 (bf dunno and really don't care right now)
Interests: Power Lifting, reading, and computers.
City State: Lovington, NM (eastern border with Texas)
Started working out at a local gym in October 2001 (to get away from my
wife) and lose some of that extra body fat. At first, I was doing that
aerobic thing and low weights with high reps, but one of the guys I work
with encouraged me to try Power Lifting. I always thought I had pretty
good genetics for lifting, but over the years I have allowed my sedentary
work, injuries and life style to basically ruin me. NO MORE.
"Lift Heavy Or Go Home" is my motto now.
Or, maybe it is, "Overcome the Need to Breed, Defeat Gravity and Defy
Time".
I am not sure. q:o)
Currently I am doing the 3X3 routine, buying and trying all the PL
equipment, and planning on doing my first PL competition in the Masters II
division, 227 lb. weight class May 11, 2002 in Rio Rancho, NM. Hopefully,
the weight class will go down each year until I am competing at 187. On
the positive side, I have lost approximately 12 lbs. since starting the gym
visits, and my plan is to lose about 2 lbs. a month, get healthy, minimize
injuries and continue to improve my lift weights and technique.
PRs Nov. 01 Current Gym PRs Planned for May 11, 2002
Squat 245 Squat 375 Squat 400
Bench 205 Bench 225 Bench 235
Dead 275 Dead 385 Dead 405
Total 725 Total 985 Total 1040
As you can see, I got lots of those beginner gains, and I am not expecting
that to continue. My bench is weak due to a chronic impinged nerve in my
right upper back/neck area, but I will not let it stop me from trying.
Heck, I will just make up the weight squatting.
