4) Look fit and strong.
I was inspired to lift weights probably by my dad, who had an old york
110 pound set when i was very young. Later the book "Inside
Powerlifting" gave me the PLing bug, but lack of opportunity and
guidance slowed that impulse. In fact i was caught up in the
nautilus-hit cult for a long time. Finally, after many years i realized
it just wasn't getting me where i wanted to go. This included many
years, yes years, lost to self-induced injury and stupidity. Now i
train in a very meat and potatos fashion to achive my goals. I consider
realistic goals 600 pound SQ and DL, and a 400 pound BP at under two
hundred pounds bodyweight. That would be an eight times bodyweight
total - very respectable from my perspective. But i don't train to
achieve goals, i train because i love to train; and i will until they
pry the bar from my cold, dead hands. I train at home on a york olympic
set bought twenty years ago, and recently bought irommind squat rack,
bench and saftey rack.
