Ted Hoffman
I'm 41 years old. I've got 5 great kids, which tend to take up most of my
time. When they don't, I do independant consulting work in SAP out of my
home.
I used to keep in fairly decent shape. Up until 8 years ago, I worked for
Goodyear. We had our own gym at HQ, and I played BBall 5 days a week at
lunch. Also messed around with weights, but never seriously.
Then I started consulting, travelling every week. Eating out all the time,
combined with 10 hour days and no exercise took its toll. I gradually
worked up to 190+ lbs. About 2 years ago, I really looked at myself, and
didn't like what I saw.
So I started my normal workout routine, which wasn't very good. My diet was
horrible; I could always lose weight, but never in the right way. Finally,
I stumbled on the misc.fitness.weights newsgroup (MFW). It's rude, it's
crude, and it probably has the best information anywhere on or off the
internet. I eventually got my diet into decent shape. My lifting I'm still
working on.
It took awhile, some stops and gos, but by last summer I had dropped down to
around 160 lbs, and was in the best shape I can ever remember. I was and am
addicted.
I'm currently working towards trying my first PL meet. After that, who
knows. But I do know that I'll continue lifting in one form or another.
