Litany of sporting and weightlifting achievements :
None. Well, nothing official. I was, and still am,
rubbish at most sports. I took up weight training at
41 years old, simply to try to get a little stronger
and to "beef up" a little, having been as skinny as a
greyhound. I was hooked after my first week working
out.
I don't view myself as a powerlifter, though I do the
powerlifting lifts. I'm not a bodybuilder either,
though I do like the little extra muscle I've added.
I see myself as someone who works out with weights,
plain and simple.
Some of my best lifts :
Deadlift - 400 lb
Squat - 1RM 276 lb hams to calves, 20 deep reps at 220
lb.
SLDL - 300 lb
Bench - 195 lb
DB rows - 8 @ 110 lb
I chop and change routines, but not as often as some
suggest. If it's working, I keep on doin' it. If it
stops working, I stop doin' it and do something else.
Next goals - 410lb deadlift, 295lb squat, 205lb bench.
Biggest problems - tendon injuries. Running before I
can walk is probably the rooot cause.
I train in an old-fashioned, weights-only gym just 100
yards from where I work. Plenty of weights, no chrome
machines in sight!
I've made a lot of friends in my wanderings through
weights cyberspace, and have met up with some of the
regulars from the weight training newsgroups.
Hobbies - I play drums in a band most weekends, just
for fun.
