About me
Born in 1963 in Edinburgh, Scotland so that makes me too old.
I started lifting late in my mid 20's always was big boned (read fat) and
played a lot of rugby through school and after.
Anyway started lifting mainly for highland games stuff shot put, hammer
throwing, caber tossing etc
Tried Olympic hammer coordination for the movement wasn't so good but still
threw it a long way.
I then had a pretty serious back injury at work and was told I would never
lift again so for the next 10 years I believed the medics and vegetated at
home. Well not quite, I started my own business as a sculptor doing
miniature models of castles etc. Also do a bit of web designing.
After ten years of pretty much doing nothing physically I was a fat moby
dick lookalike and still suffering almost constant pain. I approached my
doctors and physios to ask if I should go and do a bit of light lifting just
to try and get fit. All said no apart from the physio who said I should go
back light and use machines only.
Well you can guess who's advice I took and started back on the machines
october/november last year (2001) after a couple of weeks the difference was
amazing back pain was reduced significantly and the weights just kept
creeping up. So after the year Mid January I started lifting without the
machines and I'm here now pain free for the first time in 10 years ( Apart
from the old doms) and the lifting is going reasonably well in fact
absolutely brilliant just beat my old bench pr (June 2002).
Looking to compete as a master in 2003 aiming for bench 400 squat 500 dead
600 nice round numbers.
Inspirations:- all the doctors who said I couldn't do it !!!!

Hobbies: fishing, fishing and more fishing for pike, sea bass, mullet,
pollack, wrasse and anything else that comes my way
